Terence mcCaffery
« on: Saturday 08 August 20 15:59 BST (UK) »
Hello, I am trying to find a marriage between Terrence mcCaffery also spelt McCaffrey . He supposedly married Jane Doyle, but she is also known as Ann Jane mcCaffery. She was born around 1869 in Liverpool as either Ann Jane Doyle, or Jane Doyle. He was born between 1869 and 1870 in Manchester. I think they married in Manchester, but can't find a marriage for them. They are on the 1901 census as Terence and Ann mcCaffery.

Not all couples married but is 1901 the first census you have them on together?

It's the only one I've found. I think he died in 1908, so she is on the 1911 census as a widow. I would like to find her birth, but don't know if she's Jane Doyle or Ann Doyle. Her grave says Ann Jane! yet on her children's birth certificate, she is Jane Doyle. I need to find out who her parents are. She said she was born in Liverpool

There is an Ann Jane Doyle baptised at St Peter's Liverpool on 6 Nov 1871 - born on 25 Aug 1871 - abode Toxteth Park - parents John Doyle, Labourer - mother Jane.

However unless a marriage is found showing her father's name - there is no actual evidence to say this may be the correct Jane (or Ann Jane!). May just be worth making a note of for possible future reference.

EDIT: But see later message from Rosie - which rules out this baptism!

Just as a thought - on the same page of the 1901 entry there is a Felix McCaffrey & family.  He was b Manchester 1862.  Wondered if there was any connection to Terence?
