NSW BDM reference number
« on: Monday 10 August 20 07:54 BST (UK) »
Is there any significance in an entry in the NSW BDM index having a reference number such as V19122227 159? I have a vague recollection that it refers to a fiche?
England:
Durham: COULSON, FENWICK, HUNTER, LOWES, NAYLOR, ROBSON
Norfolk: DEWING, OUGHTON, TAYLOR,
Lancashire: TWEDDLE
Ireland: KEATING, KIRBY, Limerick; NELSON, Donegal
Scotland: BENNIE, Glasgow; COOK, Renfrewshire; HENDERSON, Alloa/Dundee; HUNTER, Glasgow; KIRKWOOD, Alloa; LAMONT, Dalkeith; YOUNG, Glasgow
Switzerland: VOSTI, DELUBINI

The NSW State Archives at Kingswood has the fiche, and I would anticipate that you are referring to an Early Church Record rather than a civil registration.  I suggest that because of the 'V' in the reference ... V as in Volume...  although if you were to venture to ask the call centre, they may think it is V for Vital, and perhaps not know that it is it (oops, how that get there - I edit to strike through !)  V for Volume.

Thanks JM, I thought I remembered such reference numbers on the fiche in the National Library years ago. But what threw me was the reference was for a 1912 birth:

SHELLEY  ENID   2227/1912 V19122227 159   CHARLES R   ALICE

which suggests there must be a church record for this birth?

Yes, another candidate for my elusive Enid Coulson :-)

... yes, Miss Enid will be found when she is ready to be found, and not a moment earlier.
