Peter Hall 1798
« on: Monday 10 August 20 17:35 BST (UK) »
Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone could help me find a christening to someone on my tree.
His name is Peter Hall. I know from his death in 1835 (died in Horningtoft) that he was born in 1798.
He married Mary Frier in 1820 in Brisley and had several children who were christened in Horningtoft between 1820 and 1835.
His wife and some of the children appear on the 1841 census without him.
I can't find a christening for him anywhere so have no idea who his parents were.
There is a Peter Hall born 1798 in Swafield but that is not him as he married Eleanor and appears in censuses until 1891.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Vicky

The first child was baptized in her parish of Brisley 29 November 1820 named Peter.

If they kept to naming patterns then his father was Peter, the first daughter would be named after her mother, second daughter his mother etc.

Thank you. So going by that their first son was Peter so his father could have been Peter as well. Doesn't work with the girls though as his wife's mother was called Lydia. Their first child was Mary. Could have been named after his wife and his mother potentially I guess.
Thanks. Given me stuff to think about.

They had a child called Dorcas later. I haven't come across that much. Was that an unusual name does anyone know?

Mary Hall nee Frier married a second time in 1862 to Thomas Skelt.
Who did she name as her father as Mary always says she was born North Elmham and I don't see a family with the mother Lydia circa 1797.

I found a Mary Frier christened in 1806 in Ringland, Norfolk. Her parents were William Frier and Lydia Hardy.
Maybe it's not the right one though
