1911 census
« on: Wednesday 12 August 20 07:38 BST (UK) »
I am having trouble finding Isabella Young, a widow in the 1911 census for Scotland.

Born 1844 and living in Ashfield, Dunblane in 1901 with husband James.

Thanks if anyone can find her.

Wendy

Hi Wendy ,

Could Isabella have been using her maiden surname in 1911 ?

If Isabella died 1913(James died 1906) her maiden surname was Ferguson  :-\

What was her maiden surname, and have you found her death?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

If she had children it is entirely possible that she was visiting them in 1911, even if they were 'heaven forbid' in England.

I think all her children remained in Scotland but I am having trouble finding them on the 1911 census.

As EV says, there's an Isabella Ferguson, aged 69, in Dunblane and Lecropt in 1911 - reference 348/ 3/ 22 - might be worth a look, if you haven't already ruled her out.
