Yes. I looked for other soldiers in the same regiment with 385* service numbers - and there are several on the Silver War Badge rolls which give date of enlistment.

Looking at a few more of these (more than I looked at earlier) you can see that there is a bit of a range. These are all 2nd Battalion men:

38544 was enlisted on 28 August 1916
38554 was enlisted on 13 May 1916
38556 was enlisted on 31 July 1916
