1881 with parents and family, same place.
RG11/5273/35/30

Can't find him in 1901 under either birthplace.  Tried Watkin & Watkins

In South Africa in the army? Quite often where men of military age disappear to on this census.

There is a Chelsea Pensioners record on Fold3 for a John Watkins b c1871 in "Blackburn" Monmouthshire enlisting in 1891

Ok, 'Blackwood' is just over the hill from Newbridge.
I don't know Fold3, can I get to see the Record?

Lots of John Watkins about that age, shame he didn't always use his middle name.
DOB is 14 Oct 1872.

In 1939 Column 11, 'Instruction' it says PWC 518 28931. Does that mean anything.
Am I allowed to post info from 1939 Register??
