Many thanks for all the input; very helpful.  So i have a quandry: the story strongly suggests John Mitchell (died 1913) was married to Ann Bradly and had at least two children (Patrick and Richard) before Ann died in 1870 and remarried a year later (Sarah Feely) and had several more children.  But how can I prove it was the same John Mitchell in both stories?  Many thanks,

Elizabeth Bessie Newell married in 1900 Rev Robert Mitchell,Ahoghill, Antrim born abt 1828 dont have any Parents Info for him,One child born Robert James Mitchell born 1901 Ballymena,

The 1900 marriage registration identifies the name and occupation of one of his parents:

This enquiry doesn’t appear to have anything to do with Co Leitrim. You should ask a moderator to move it to the Co Antrim board.

Here’s Robert’s marriage certificate. They married in Broughshane 2nd Presbyterian church. His townland was Glenhugh and his father was Henry a farmer.

Robert Mitchell in the 1901 census was 5 months old.
His birth (as Nelson) - 7th October 1900
