My dad went to Jean Street, Port Glasgow, in the 30’s where would he have gone at secondary age?

I don't know about the Port Glasgow schools, but in the 1930s you could leave school at 14. If you had an acceptable standard of education and had a job to go to, you could also apply for an exemption which allowed you to leave at 13 1/2.

Certainly Dad was out by 14, granny packed him off to work on a farm as his elder brother died of TB. I assume, therefore, that he went from Jean Street to the farm?
