Waringfield military hospital
« on: Sunday 16 August 20 08:16 BST (UK) »
Hi all, On my dads service records it states that when he came home from Burma via Bombay he went straight to Waringfield military hospital for 2 weeks in July 1946. Was this a routine occurrence or would he have been poorly. I assume he then came home to Newport Mon. Thank you, Phil.

Unless a member of the forces was being medically discharged they were supposed to be fit and well before they could discharged after their service, this could explain why he went to the hospital. Or it could be that he returned to the UK with some injury or infection which needed hospital treatment, the soldiers in Burma had a very hard war due to the conditions, lack of food etc.

Just an article about the closure of Waringfield Military Hospital in 1963, when it moved to Musgrave Park Hospital in Belfast.
