Census 1870's
« on: Sunday 16 August 20 18:41 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to find the Dunning Family. They were in Clonmel between 1877 - 1879 where their two sons were born. Is there a census for this period and could anyone please do a look up for me.

It is for William & Bridget Dunning and their 2 sons Patrick b 1877 & Thomas  1879.

Thanks

Unfortunately the 1871 census does not survive. The first complete census for all Ireland in 1901- it and 1911 are online (free)- only small fragments of earlier ones for a few areas survive.

Valuation Revision Books might be the way to go but details are by townland or streets (in towns & cities).

Thomas was actually born in 1878 on the 8th December at Dispensary Street, Clonmel when Patrick was born they lived at Upper Johnson street, when the couple married in 1876 thier addresses were noted as Clonmel and Irishtown

The February 1876 marriage registration:

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1876/11162/8089269.pdf

A transcript of the church version of the marriage record indicates the respective parents as: Patrick Dunning and Mary Pender; Patrick Condon and Margaret Neill.
