Finding the Tookes - father and son?
« on: Monday 17 August 20 18:46 BST (UK) »
I have a father-son relationship, beautifully defined by 2 record images.

A marriage;
29 Jul 1928, All Saints, South Lynn, England between Arthur Samuel Took and Ethel May Bentley shows Arthur's father as George.

In the 1939 register we have Arthur and Ethel esconsed at No 8 Smiths Cottages (Grimston Rd, South Wooton, still there!) with George Took at No 5.

This (of course) means that I have George and Arthur's names and dates of birth (1862, 1903)

But I cannot find any definite record for either of them in 1911 census or earlier. Which ought to be an easy search.

I have a false match of a George Tuck (baker/confectioner) in 1911, but he leads to a separate record in 1939, so it's not him.

What am I missing?

If you're using Ancestry, as well as the mis-spelling of the surname, Arthur is indexed as Aarthur!

Mabel, doing a double check, he may be Aarthur on the image! Not that we can mention that of course.
