I didn't know you could change the date. I will have another look, thanks Simon.

The trade and commercial directories for Chester for the years 1901/1911 might help in your search to locate this house. They are kept in the library in Chester and in the archives too. I am not sure whether you can access either of these at the moment as I am not local to Chester.

Hi, I checked a couple of different trade directories online earlier today. They refer to the company itself in Newton. And on the personal details refer to 'Ningwood' being in Newton but sadly no street name.
(1) Janions of Cheshire, Lancashire, Hawaii, Vancouver and Seattle.
(2) Gregorys of Tarporley, Cheshire.
(3) Pughs of 'The New Pale' near Frodsham and Delamere in Cheshire.
(4) Nevills of Llanelly, Llangennech and Felinfoel.
(5) Yaldens of Ovington/Lovington in Hampshire.

 Thank you Simon.

Looking again at the census returns, old maps etc. I do think it may have been where I said on Brook Lane. Perhaps the house just wasn't large enough to be named on the old maps. After reading on an Upton heritage website I think the family and the business was reaching its end by the early 1900's and most of the land is now built on.

Just a thought, have you checked Wills ? E.g. I see Lavinia Mary Trevor Dickson's 1929 Probate references John Trevor Dickson glue manufacturer as an Executor. It might be that her Will and/or her Probate states his address. For £1.50 it might be worth the money. Alternately, other family Wills might have similar/greater detail.

One final thought. Have you checked burial register details ? I used to have a www.deceasedonline.com subscription - now lapsed - and there were often many extra details in these. I have relatives buried in Overleigh Cemetery in Chester where there are quite a few Dickson's related to your John Trevor; I recall the Overleigh Registers were quite detailed.
Good luck.
