It could have been an error, we know they occasionally happened (probably still do!), it is annoying and does mean making rigorous checks, which you have already been doing.
Eliza Matilda hung around there (or returned!) but no further sign of the elusive Thomas and Mary...

As elusive as Mildred who has done a pretty complete disappearing act after 1841. Hopefully someone will find her.
