Lily M,

Thanks for the tip about mothers maiden name in GRO records as I thought it was only visible from 1911.

I was aware of Ann Maria and Susannah Vaughan but didnt have their birth certs. For the sake of completion, I have ordered copies along with those for the new siblings you identified [Rosanna Maria, Charlotte Sarah and David Benom].

Certs now received and no suprises. All confirm:

David the father was a bootmaker or shoemaker
Mother was Maria or Maria Susannah nee Andrews
Born at 17 Jubilee Place or 17 Jubilee Street in Stepney

For the sake of completion I will now order the death certs

Well you’re certainly thorough!  Frustrating that David Plumb’s early life is still proving to be a mystery.

Trying to order the death certs from the GRO is not proving straight forward:

From FreeBMD
Deaths Sep 1838
Plumb    Ann Maria         Stepney    2   350 - ORDERED
Deaths Jun 1846
Plumb    Susannah Vaughan   Stepney    2   321 - ORDERED
Deaths Jun 1847
PLUMB    David                 Stepney            2   343 - ALREADY HAVE
PLUMB    David Bononi         Whitechapel    2   433 same quarter as his father above but not in Stepney for some reason - ORDERED
Deaths Mar 1851
PLUMB    Rosanna Maria         Stepney    2   422  tried lots of different searches but cant find on GRO so cant order!!

If anyone can offer advice on how to 'find' Rosanna on the GRO so I cna order I would be very grateful

Rosanna is listed on FreeBMD but seems to have been missed off the GRO site.

Rosanna Maria Plumb   Stepney   Jan-Mar 1851  Vol.2  Page 422

I wonder if baby David died in the London Hospital, in Whitechapel

Death certs now received:

Ann Maria - fathers occupation and address as expected
Susannah Vaughan - as above
David Benoni - fathers occupation but deceased as expected. Mother is at an 'unknown' address at death [ie not parents or children]. Another item to follow up on.

The cause of death for both Ann and Susannah relate to the back. Ann died of a tumor on the back and Susannah had spina bifida.
