Kenwood Hand Mixer
« on: Sunday 23 August 20 10:24 BST (UK) »
Hi I recently bought a Kenwood Hand Mixer on Ebay. The seller was from China,it took ages to arrive. I was disappointed to find the plug to operate was not a uk plug it was one you see on electrical appliances when on holiday,
 ( 2 rounded prongs )
This is description on box. kenwood hand mixer, HM 133 260 W.
Information then given below Union Jack Flag. 5 speed selector "Turbo" Eject button Kneading hook and beater Chrome plated  220-240v-50/60Hz 260W
I inserted 2 prongs into shaving plug adaptor inserted 2 beaters switched on and it worked, now I am worried that I should not use mixer in case it is not compatible for use in uk.  Can anyone advise please. Is mixer safe to use. Would send it back if seller was in uk but ??? China ??? too much hassle.
Any help appreciated.

Not sure but will the shaver adaptor not reduce the power ?
You really need a cube adaptor I should think ,but someone with better knowledge will be able to say
 I have the Kenwood owHW326001
220-240V 250W 50/60Hz
Had it many years and is fitted with a three pronged plug.
It has two beaters and two dough hooks.
Storage tower .
Got it from Curry’s in about 2009.
No problems at all.
Hope you get it sorted out.

Either change the plug or use a European/UK travel adapter.

The only downside to using a 'shaver adapter' is if the adapter doesn't have provision for a fuse!
Check to see if there is provision for a fuse, normally have a one amp fuse which is o'k for use.

Victoria: If you decide to replace with a 13amp plug, use a 2amp or a 5amp fuse!

You should use one of these.
They stay permanently attached.

Shaver sockets bend the pins on euro plugs, the pin spacing is different

You should check the rating label to ensure that it conforms to UK standard - 220-240v 50/60Hz

If this is correct, I would change the plug to a proper three pin and make sure that you have a 3A fuse in it.
