Irish Guards
« on: Monday 24 August 20 15:02 BST (UK) »
It's been a very long time since researching military stuff.

I think I may have found my uncle's service number but not sure if it is him, how can I check?

Name:- M Harris (hoping it is Malcolm)
Unit:- Irish Guards
Rank:- Guardsman
Service Number:- 2718714

A push in the right direction would be much appreciated

Regards
Ken Harris

Difficult I'm afraid.  WW2 records are still with the Ministry of Defence.  There are some sites that purport to have detailed records, they don't.  https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records

You don't need his service number as long as you have his date of birth and the other requirements.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
