Possibly Dublin United Tramway Company  https://www.rte.ie/centuryireland/index.php/articles/dublin-tram-company-boosts-profits-despite-rebellion
Three companies operated the trams initially, the Dublin Tramways Company, the North Dublin Street Tramways Company,  and Dublin Central Tramways. These companies united in 1880, forming the Dublin United Tramways Company,  https://comeheretome.com/2012/07/24/a-quick-look-at-dublin-trams-and-no-not-the-luas/

All the old tramway were gone by 1949 so none of those old company's exist. It appears Dublin Bus took over their premises.
Maybe the National Transport Museum would know if any records survive.

No, he may have moved to Ireland to work for the tram company. The tram work is a possibility. You can't say for certain why he moved to Ireland, he may have had other reasons.

Hi Deedee. Sinann has shown that Michael Malone worked for DUT company. There is nothing definite to say that Edward also worked for the same company. Just a possibility. Where is Edward in 1911? Did you find him on the census in England or Ireland?

Birth of Charlotte Thorpe 18 Mar 1919. Father Edward's occupation is shown as 'mechanic' and living at 91 Gordon Street. https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1919/01249/1518977.pdf
