edited. I thought you were saying that Hugh's wife was named McLaughlin. but it is his mother that was a McLaughlin.
so the records below are probably for the correct family.

Both parents match as in names If correct Mary was Mcloughlin / Mclaughlin from fallask also had the nickname Potts Mclaughlin to separate different mclaughlins bit like Smith 😁

Then I don't think we have the right family.

The Ryan family in the 1905 Census of Brooklyn - with the same 4 children as when Hannah and Hugh were together. and at 46 Driggs Ave

Charles Ryan, 36, born in Ireland, arrived 1890, alien
Hannah Ryan, 37, born in Ireland, arrived 1888
Michael Ryan, 9
Loretta M Ryan, 6
Mary J Ryan, 4
Elizabeth Ryan, 2

birth of Michael F Ryan
b 3 June 1896, at 856 2nd Avenue, New York City
father: Charles Ryan
mother: Hannah Ryan
mother's maiden name: Leahy

and Elizabeth Teresa Ryan, born on the same street as in the 1905 Census.
b 24 December 1903, 73 Driggs Avenue
parents: Charles and Hannah Ryan
mother's maiden name: Leahy

A tree on ancestry says that this Hannah (Leahy) Ryan Harkin was born 14 Feb 1869 in Whitechurch, Cork. The home person of the tree looks like her son  Michael F's grandson.

disregard. we don't need Hugh's mother's birth information. sorry for confusing things. At any rate, it doesn't look like Hugh himself had children.

Both parents match as in names If correct Mary was Mcloughlin / Mclaughlin from fallask also had the nickname Potts Mclaughlin to separate different mclaughlins bit like Smith 😁

Do you have the civil registration of her birth? If so, could you please post the exact date, father's name, and mother's maiden name. The dob might not match the American records exactly, but it will help narrow down the search for this couple.

----------
My mother had a friend named McLaughlin. Once I asked her (my mother) how her friend spelled her name. She said "Just the way it sounds."  --  a bit of Irish humor, I guess.

New York Naturalization Hugh Harkins - the birth date does not agree with the death record on reply 1.  ??? Declared 8 December 1917.

The children named are his step-children as per census - loretta on the 1915
