Non gro recorded deaths.
« on: Wednesday 26 August 20 21:27 BST (UK) »
A general question as I cannot find an answer too. During the February 1871 great storm in the North Sea upwards of 50 odd men were drowned/died. A percentage of those men were named, ages recorded and buried in Bridlington during February. However, some of their names do not appear on GRO death index. Is there an official reason for this.

Hi Pauline, indeed I searched next q as well. A percentage of the names recorded on the burial register do appear on GRO index in q1 Bridlington but also a few do not, hence my question.

Are you certain that their bodies were recovered?
Would a death cert be issued without a body?

This man was named, his occupation known, and where his abode was, hence he was not an "unknown"

Hi
Ah, but how do you know that he wasn't identified subsequent to registration?
By "he", I mean the body.

If the body drifted to another country would they have to do the documentation?
