Halls, Bromsgrove
« on: Thursday 27 August 20 20:57 BST (UK) »
I've been told there was a reasonably large greengrocery business in Bromsgrove during WW1 and into the 1920s run by a family named Hall, one of them being John William Hall.  At the moment I can see nothing about them.  Are there any directories etc where I might find the actual names of the proprietors please?

Hi,

The University of Leicester has a collection of directories to access for free https://www2.le.ac.uk/library/find/specialcollections/az/historical-directories

Also try the local newspaper for Bromsgrove for adverts.  The local branch of Midland Ancestors has them on-line, again for free.  You will need to register to access the papers which are weekly in pdf format. http://www.bromsgrovebmsgh.co.uk/cms/index.php  Whilst you are there check out the family announcements and WW1 info.
