John Hayes - Otterbourne Hampshire

I have one last request for assistance

I have come across a bit of a strange death. With which I need clarity.

John Hayes DOB 1800 Otterbourne Hampshire Death 24 July 1851 at sea HMS Tartar ...but then I have come across another document same date of death but in Winchester.  I am slightly confused.

Both records seem to be on Ancestry. However-I'm getting different death/burial dates.
England, Select Deaths and Burials, 1538-1991
The Otterbourne chap was buried 9 Jul 1851.

The man aboard the Tartar:
 in the UK, Registers of Births, Marriages and Deaths at Sea, 1844-1890
didn't die until 24 Jul 1851.
