Confused over Name..
« on: Saturday 29 August 20 17:03 BST (UK) »
Hi All
After a break in researching my Maternal Grandmothers side of the family I have now become a trifle confused now I have picked it back up again..
My Great Grandmother was born in 1856, Wadhurst Sussex.. Christened on the 2nd March st Marys..
as Mary Jane Freak, returning to Reading after she was 15 as she is listed as being a servant in sussex at that age, but still living with her family.? On 1871 census she seems to be Mary Anne ? One or two other memebers trees have her as Mary Anne too.. ! Is this a miss-spelling or do I have  the Wrong Mary Freak do you think? .. She married Edwin Fisher in 1875 in Reading, had 8 children, one being my Grandmother..! which all seems to fit.. ??? ???

Do you have the marriage certificate - just asking because I see the 1875 entry as Mary Jane FRAKE.  :-\

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

The marriage is at the Register Office.  And there is another Frake marriage, same year - Richard Frake and Lucretia Young - St Mary the Virgin, Reading - from BerkshireBMD.

Richard appears to be a Confectioner, father = William (no occupation given).  Richard is given as aged 22.  Transcription from FindMyPast.

Added:  17.29 - 29.8.2020 - a witness to this marriage is Emma Jane Frake.
