Charles Edward Haynes (Baptism)
« on: Saturday 29 August 20 20:42 BST (UK) »
Trying to find the baptism of my grandfather Charles Edward Haynes born 31st December 1879 at 24 Upper Dale Road, New Normanton Derby. He was the son of Edward & Ann Haynes (nee Palmer). His elder brother Edwin born at the same address was baptised 1878 at St. Giles Church, Normanton, but I did not find my grandfather's baptism at this church.
Would be grateful for any information.
Thanks

Does the 1881 census state he (Charles E) was born in Purton, Wiltshire?

Does brother Edwin die before 1881 census?

Yes his birthplace is given as Purton, Wiltshire. What is also incorrect is that his mother Ann was born in Aldbourne, Wiltshire and not Naseby. The two girls Mary Jane and Elizabeth Ann are the illegitimate children of Ann both registered as Palmer but took the name Haynes after Edwin and Ann married.

Young Edwin died on the 15th November 1878 two days after his baptism.

There was also one other child from the marriage Rose Hannah born 3rd February 1883 at 78 Stanhope Street, New Normanton she was baptised at St. Thomas Parish Church.

On 1881/91/01 census the father is clearly entered as Edwin

Apologies to everyone who read my initial message, as Suzard has correctly pointed out Edwin was the father of Charles Edward. I do have the birth certificate for Charles Edward, born 31st December 1879 and registered in Shardlow 13th February 1880. Beginning to wonder if he was just not baptised.

Thanks for your time

Shardlow reg District covers quite a large area both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire - what was the address given on birth certificate?
