Yes it very well could be.

 I could order a birth certificate and see if it provides a mother.

a tree has that Clarissa dying about 1922.

My Carissima died as Mrs C Wells 1962, Bromley Kent

Clarissa daughter of Jessie is single and an Art Teacher in 1901
So I think that rules her out

I don't understand why she isn't on 1901 with son born 1900 Sept Qtr, her husband came from Rio so perhaps they had gone there

Where have you seen her using the name Clarissa or any name other than Carissima?

Just now I have found a birth date 15/6/1870 Beaminster, Devon. Address in Fulham 89C Fulham Park Gardens.

Where have you seen that?
