Possible siblingsin Bristol
« on: Monday 31 August 20 23:36 BST (UK) »
Good Evening,
My ancestor James Pickett married Margaret Donovan in Bristol in the 1850s, though I can't find James mother on any record, I know his father is James Pickett,
I think I may have found JP juniors sister Elizabeth marriage to a John Driscoll in the non conformist records, and father is James Pickett, how would I know for sure they are definitely siblings, any help appreciated.
Thank you

No info given as to when or where James was born.  If I have the right 1861 entry - it appears to be 1832 Ireland - is that correct?

Did you not check freebmd for the exact year?  It was 1856. Do you have a copy of the marriage cert?  If not - how do you know his fathers name was James?

No info given re marriage year - it was 1859 & she is shown as Betsey Pickett - not Elizabeth - on freebmd entry

Have you found the Driscoll's in 1861?  Where and when was she born?

1859 Marriage has Parents as;
Father:   Jacobi Pickett
Mother:   Catharinae Pickett

1871 Census Glous;
Elizabeth Driscoll 30   Cork, Ireland
Patrick Driscoll   12   Bristol, Gloucestershire
Margaret Driscoll 7   Bristol,
James Pickett Father   70   Cork, Ireland
Catherine Pickett Mother 66 Cork, Ireland
Catherine Sullivan Niece 19   Bristol
Mary Pickett Niece 13   Bristol

This is from F/S.Org havent found entry on Anc yet

Looks to me that James/Catherine arrived in England 1861-1871 as cant find them 1861 Census.

1851 looking for Patrick Driscoll his Mother Elizabeth seems to be down as Mary.

John Driscol born c 1839 Cark, Ireland on Anc.

Non Conformist Registers Bristol (ancestry)

Jacobus Pickett born 17 December 1861 bap 22 December 1861 son of Jacobi Pickett and Margaretae
Godfather Jeremius Bryen and Godmother Elizabeth Pickett

This is the James registered first quarter 1862 Bristol.

Elizabeth being a godparent of one of James children would indicate a close relative but not conclusive as a sister.

Hi
I've been looking closely at the pickett marriages and baptisms, and one has the same address as my 3 x great grandfather James pickett when he married, so am I right in thinking they are related or would it be just a lodging house? Marsh Street Bristol.
