pages 1 & 2 of a will
« on: Tuesday 01 September 20 04:51 BST (UK) »
Kia ora

I have a will of which I still have quite a lot of gaps.
I have split this into 4 parts and as I can attach 4 per post I will put up page 1 & 2 and the translations I have done.

I am going to put up a second post with the other parts to it.

Any help will be great.

Clip 1:
.. Lichfield and Coventry....

..God my maker hoping and assuredly trusting through the
Merits and Mediation of Jesus Christ my blessed Redeemer to receive free
Pardon and Remission of all my synns..

.....devise and dispose thereof .....
.

Added:
 'capitall messuage'
' I nowe dwell'
'by mee'
'freedome
'

I think you're correct with 'Myne Wood'

There's a lot here Bronwen, but I'll make a start.

..... all and every the said p(re)misses

You have omitted line 5 in your transcription, which reads:
Shee the said Anne my said Executrix yearly paying unto Robert Browne my
eldest Sonne the summe of fortie Pounds of lawfull money .......

The scribble at the start of line 7 is just gap filling

......charge upon all and every the Messuages Lands
Tenenents and hereditam(en)ts Mynes of Iron stone and coale...

Testament hereafter particularly expressed amounting in
the whole

........which severall Legacies.....

shall be and are hereby charged to be raised levied .....

Many thanks to you both, yes Goldie I realise it is huge, I have a list of will words and have been going through them in the hope I could pick up more and I did before I posted it.  (If I had kids in South Auckland I am not sure I would send them back to school either)!

McKh thanks I have tried to upload the second page in sections to try and get it clearer but it keeps having an issue.

Continuation of Clip 2:

.........one and twenty years I doe alsoe charge upon all and every
the said p(re)misses....

...Simon Browne for this porcion when he shall return* into
England to receive it  I doe also charge......

....Jane Browne for her porcion ........

...... the portion of the deceased.......

....... Elizabeth Dod......

....... lawfull money And the like sume

... John Hadley my Grandchild Tenn pounds to be
also charged.....

.....Robert Browne my eldest sonne doe or shall
at any tyme hereafter within the space of seaven yeares

This scribe seems to use both the 'tion' and 'cion' endings on words interchangeably.
There would seem to be both in  the spelling of 'portion' and 'porcion'.

......sufficiently secured ....... to whome
the said severall legacies and portions are herein before......

..... of them in manner and forme
aforesaid by me devised without any fraud or ?....

..........herefafter lymitted

...... shall and may descend and come to.....

...... inheritance.....

....heires the right and revertion of all and singular.......

* hard to make this out
? - can't really make this out as it's pretty fuzzy.

Probably ... fraud or diminution.
