John Georg Streicher 1866 - Germany
« on: Wednesday 02 September 20 22:26 BST (UK) »
I am searching for information on my gr-gr-grandfather. Hoping there's more information out there than what we've found.
What we know:
Johann Georg Streicher born April 30, 1866 in Heidenheim
Parents: David Streicher and Friederike Auguste Knauss
Siblings: David Streicher and Gustav Adolf Streicher
We have no information between his birth to 1897 which was his marriage in New York.
Also, we have no information on Gustav other than birth record.

Who did he marry in 1897.

Have you found him on US censuses as that will give you the date he immigrated

So he was about 18 when he arrived in the USA.    Apart from census info there is probably very little if any other info.

He was 31 when he married - does the 1897 marriage entry show him as a bachelor?

Did he have a notable occupation which may have got a mention in newspapers?

Yes he was.
I’m not sure about the occupation. I’m assuming not. He was a diver, who helped with the building of the Brooklyn or Willis Ave bridge. We have mixed info on that.

I should also add that sometime after 1900 his last name changed to Schneider.
