Is there a 'cause of death' report for this young mother?

Is 'died suddenly' a euphemism for suicide?

How did she arrive in Canada as her 3 young children travelled separately in June 1940 with 3 young BARING children and their mother

I would not say so, I have seen that phrase used often in obituaries.

I agree with rosie. You could look for the birth of a baby about that time....though of course it may have been an accident or illness.

I think in those times people were less open about causes of illness and unlikely to mention the cause of death in public media.

This obituary mentions that she had only just reached Canada where her children have been staying from a visit to her husband.

There is a passenger record in 1940 to the USA for her.

Civil registration only began in Quebec in 1994 so there will only be a burial record. The image of this burial record can be seen in the Drouin Collection on the Ancestry website if you you have a sub that gives you access to Canadian records. If not, it should also be available on the free familysearch website.

Many thanks to you all.
The New York passenger arrivals appears to show her In Transit from Durban South Africa but resident Egypt.
I see at thepeerage website another baby son listed
John Alexander George Dawnay was born on 28 March 1938. He was the son of Lt.-Col. Ronald Dawnay and Lady Elizabeth Katherine Grey. He died on 14 March 1961 at age 22, unmarried.

Perhaps this son was born in Egypt?
I now see mother and son are on the 1939 register.
