Mary Jane BEESWORTH -a missing child
« on: Thursday 03 September 20 17:53 BST (UK) »
Thomas BEESWORTH and Harriet PAYNE were married in 1858 (probably in Medbourne, Leicestershire) but settled in Thomas' home village of Cottingham. Over a span of 20 odd years they had 10 children: 1 son and 9 daughters. Research is somewhat bedeviled by the several ways in which his surname is spelled but we have tracked down 9 of them.

One remains to be accounted for:

Mary Jane BEESWORTH was born in 1867. She is listed in the 1871 census but after that - no trace.

Note: Care does need to be taken with that 1871 census. They were living at (30) High Street. Thomas and Harriet had two daughters  they had called Mary. The older one, Mary Elizabeth was born in 1865. They appear in the census as Mary E and Mary J

Any observations would be gratefully received.

Cheers Alan

Answered my own question!
After 1871 dropped Mary and went by Jane.
Married in 1885 and went to live in Lubenham. Widowed she was still there in 1939. Died in 1940
