Carol, the photo is there if you slide across.  A E Scales is shown in Hartlepool 1873 - 1890

Thank you for the date range, if it is who I suspect, she is in the US and married in September 1873. So possibly a photo taken before emigrating, if the fashion fits an early 1870s date?

Thanks for that Pat....I didn't see it. The image dates from the early 1870s I would say, the corners became rounded off in the early 1870s to allow the Carte de Visite to fit into album sleeves.
