My reply to your reply no 25. Please forgive my ignorance but where did you get Thomas Waller from. Is it who is mentioned in William Wallers will and lived in NZ?

Robert Waller from Cliffin Cavan married Matilda Johnston 1854.

The townland is Cleffin.

Am working through the info. Have not gone through page 3 of this chat yet.
Can I ask 're William Wallers will. Could some one clarify the street that is mentioned for Margaret Russell and the place for George Dowd. Thank you.

'...my said wife's niece Margaret Russell the wife of George Russell of Upton Street Launceston...'
'...George Dowd of East Tamar in Tasmania...'

From post #19:

Another son: 26513/1938 WALLER Thomas Henry parents ROBERT and MATILDA at LIVERPOOL

Funeral notice, last column: http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article1752506

Death of wife: 26421/1950 WALLER Elizabeth Mabel parents WILLIAM and ELIZABETH

Rookwood Cemetery PLOT: METHODIST NEW 4C_ZONE F/#/350
WALLER Thomas Henry 75
Date of burial: 5 OCT 1938
WALLER Elizabeth M 65
Date of burial: 12 OCT 1950

Given that Robert and Matilda married in 1854 and we have daughter Margaret born in 1865, I would think there were children born before Margaret.

A Thomas H WALLER married 608/1888 WALLER Thomas H to OHARA Eliza SYDNEY

Eliza died 1887 in TAREE: 9186/1887 WALLER Eliza parents JOHN and Elizabeth

In Memoriam, show that it’s the correct person. 1st column: http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article13682558

I don’t know why the marriage wasn’t registered until 1888.

2nd marriage: 7986/1909 WALLER Thomas H to JACKMAN Elizabeth M GLEBE

I think the Thomas in NZ, who was mentioned in the will, was the brother of William wife.

As an aside, some family members named Sydney residences CAVAN BRAE.

There is no way to be sure everyone is connected without purchasing some certificate transcriptions.

Another mystery is who the parents of Florence WALLER are.

She marries William Ellis Rae MACKAY, 1914 at the home of her Uncle Robert, of Cavan Brae. 2nd column: http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article15487105

I suspect that she is the daughter of Thomas, but I can’t see a birth.

A possible death, for her: 202311/1985 parents THOMAS and ELIZA

200797/1987 MACKAY William Ellis Rae

Jamjar, these are my direct ancestors, and I'm still trying to find out more about Robert Alexander's father Robert (who married Matilda Johnston) parents (also Robert, and Mary A) and possible siblings. Tracey is helping me piece some of it together, including this William who went to Tasmania. So I am following this info with interest.

Furthermore, there are other offspring before Margaret I've had help to confirm.

Mary Ann b.1856 - d.1934
John William b.1858 - d. 1882
Thomas Henry b.1864 - 1938 as you suggested.

Then the ones you listed:

Margaret Jane b. 1865 - d.1953
Robert Alexander b. 1868/9 - d.1922 - my direct ancestor
Matilda Eliza b.1857 - d.1959

As an aside, I'm also interesting in finding out more about the family of Robert Alexander's wife - Elizabeth Marion (Lily/Lillian) Mackay. I know her father's name was George, but little else.

Re the mentioned in a Jamjar post Florence WALLER who married William E. A. MACKAY in 1914. Neither was in a hurry to join their ancestors as she lived to 97 and he to 101. They had one child Florence J registered in NSW to 1920. Florence was thus born ca. 1888, the same year Thomas Henry WALLER married his 2nd wife Eliza O'Hara (ca. 1858-1903), a first cousin of his 1st having arrived in 1880 from Greaghadossan townland in Killinkere parish that adjoined where Thomas Henry's fathers farm was in Cleffin townland. For Thomas Henry see a Waller family of Cleffin web at: http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~jray/genealogy/waller/index.htm#thw

In regard to Tracy Clarke's messages,  as William Waller was 17 when he arrived in 1854 so born ca. 1837, and sister Rebecca was 27 so born ca. 1827 and as their father was Robert of Cleffin townland they would have been children of Robert of Cleffin who died in 1871 who as explained on the cited web page was the father of Robert who arrived with his three (or perhaps only two) last born children at Hobsons Bay in Victoria on the Greta in 1884.

Hi Tracey, I don't have any information about the Waller immigration, but I thought you might like to know I live in Louis Henry Honroth's house in North Hobart! It's a 1905 Federation cottage my husband and I have been restoring. I wanted to know the history of the house, so spent hours in the archives looking up postal delivery addresses to get a name! If you would like a bit more info just let me know.
