What occupation?

I'm trying to decipher the occupation listed for Richard Hals (bottom of the page).  I think it says 'Trade' which would be in line with the father being a carpenter?  There seem to be quite a few with the same word on the same page.

Yes, it's a very annoying clerk at St Marylebone who reduced almost everyone's occupation to Trade, Mechanical or Servant. Not at all helpful, I'm afraid.

I think the minister is aiming to distinguish by clas rather than occupation since every entry is either Servt ie servant or Trade. I guess the only other entry he made rarely was Gent.

Yes, not the most helpful or informative of records but 'Trade' fits well enough for me to take this as correct.
