Barry Accident Hospital
« on: Monday 07 September 20 19:23 BST (UK) »
Have a relative who died, age 67, in 1943 at this hospital. Death certificate shows a)Toxaemia B) Pelvic abscess and c) Diverticulum of bladder. The family story is that it was a botched operation. If true, I cannot find any mention in the newspapers, Findmypast, so can anyone suggest anywhere else to look. Name Edith Mary Lewis.

You could try the Glamorgan Archives, not sure if / when they are opening or whether sta are available to advise if there could be something in any of these: https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/hospitalrecords/details.asp?id=599

However, are you sure it was Barry Accident Hospital because there only appears to be a Death registered in East Glamorgan 1943 or the name you gave. Could it have been at East Glam Hospital?

Unfortunately, unless  the informant was the Coroner, I doubt you would find anything further. If it was in fact a botched operation there would have to have been an inquest, otherwise I expect it was just the opinion of the family.

Yes I suspected that but thought I might try to verify it one way or the other.
