What is her name?
« on: Wednesday 09 September 20 22:19 BST (UK) »
I have a baptism from Birmingham’s St Martin parish registers and I’m struggling to work out the name of Samuel Moore’s daughter, baptised in 1708. It has been transcribed as “Defnah”.

Warwickshire - Thompson, Johnson, Sinar/Siner, Abbott, Hewitt, Smith, West,
Gloucestershire - Williams, Powell, Pigeon, Pullen
Wiltshire - Cullis, Matthews
Flintshire - Jones, Evans
Yorkshire - Bennett, Coleman, Rhodes

It does look like Defnah - could it be a version of Daphne?

Thanks all, I think it could be Daphne too but she’s not mentioned in Samuel’s will (dated June 1733) so I’m assuming she died young. But then I can’t see a burial for a Daphne Moore.
