Isle of Man Lookup Henry Good Merriner

Hi everyone, looking for a bit of assitance with tracking down my 3G grandfather. I have him as far back as 1832 in Preston Quarter, Whitehaven. He's listed as being born in 'Isle of Man' on the 1851 census where he is listed as 'Henry Mariner'. His birth year is estimated as 1808, and he is referred to on later census as Henry Good Merriner. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated

Both Catherine & Henry’s births were registered as Mariner.  Mothers maiden name was Cairney

In 1861 he gives his birthplace as Workington but back to Isle of Man in 1871.  Indexed as Merriner in 1871 and birthyear 1805

Died 1873 as Meriner aged 68

Which census is he referred to as Henry Good?  1851/61/71 are just Henry

On the 1841 census he is listed as "Not born in County", and living in St Bees.

Not seeing anything on IOM records as yet?

Back in the days of sail, there was a lot of traffic between the IOM and Whitehaven.

there is a marriage in Braddan 7 Nov 1781 between a John Marinor + a Jane Garrett - 4 children John, Jane, Cath + Mary in 1782,  1784, 1787 + 1790 all bapt at Douglas St Matthews - his name is spelled differently in all records - the name in Marrage reg is Maraden + both parties noted of Douglas
with a John Marriner bur Braddan 1809 + another John Marriner Onchan 1810 - can't find any wills or property records nor any other marriages but name is so variable such that searches not that easy
