The missing Oates girls - Michigan
« on: Thursday 10 September 20 18:12 BST (UK) »
I am having a terrible time in trying to find any trace of Agnes and Della Oates after 1930. Their parents were James Oates and Maud McDonnell. James died in 1909 and Maude remarried to Neil Leroy Howard.Agnes was born abt 1904 in Michigan. In 1910 she is in Alabaster, 1920 in Onaway and in 1930 in Alma. In 1923 she married George Edward Martin and they divorced in 1930. She shows in the 1930 census using her maiden name. I have tried tracing her using Oates, Howard and Martin.
Della Oates was born abt 1909 and shows up with parents in 1910/20 and 1930. There are a few Della Oates records but I can not connect them to mine.

I think this was Agnes' birth, but listed as Marguerite A. - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F426-DB5

That is great.
I noticed that Della is not mentioned in her mother's obit. Presumably dead?
In 1940 census there is a Charles and Agnes Romine. Possibly mine?

Thanks

I found the death certificate for brother Waldo, who sadly died young.  https://michiganology.org/uncategorized/IO_41558894-7140-4c15-9080-87067c59d41d/  Ray J. Oates was the informant - I was hoping it would be Della.
