MY Great grandfather was a british soldier

apparently he was buried in Birmingham, can anyone advise how i could get hold of army records or graveyard records .

If he died during the war, check the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site to see if he is listed there.

If you let us know his name and when he died, it might be possible to find out more.

His name was charles henry Marklew, married an irish girl called Kate Ennis, don t know the year he died yet.

his wife died in 1923 aged 28 and he was already deceased at that point.
and his daughter was born in 1921, so its probably 1922/23

There is a record of a Charles Marklew being buried in Handsworth Cemetery April 1922

It costs a very expensive £20 to view the actual burial record!!

Note that his second name of Henry is not mentioned.  He was born in Birmingham so perhaps the family wanted him buried there.

Charles Henry Marklew enlisted at the age of 22 (1915) with the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. Address at the time gives as 3 Bolton Grove Lodge Road, Hockley Birmingham.
