Name on marriage certificate is given as John McLaren but certainly doesn`t look like John. Any ideas?

Any idea of the occupation of Agnes? Some type of powerloom weaver.

Agnes is some kind of weaver but do not see power loom however it says in brackets finisher if that is any help.

John's entry is Single and then on same line John -- or at a pinch iain which is john in Scotland -- he is a tilemaker not filemaker ie worked in clay not iron -- files were made in early days by blacksmiths, tiles for floor, walls or roofs.

I think John's occupation is Sail-Maker, and Agnes' is Wincey Powerloom Weaver. An internet search for "wincey powerloom weaver" brings up a number of other examples.

Wincey is a Scottish name for a type of cloth also known as Linsey-woolsey - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linsey-woolsey
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

I also see John's occupation as Sail maker. Compare the S in "Signed."
GRAY - Inveresk; Lanarkshire
LINDSAY - Lanarkshire
PURDIE - Lanarkshire; W. Lothian
POZZI - Elgin; Lancashire
MACKENZIE, MORISON, MACRAE - Lewis
ARCHIBALD, HAY, HUNTER, SNADDON - Clackmannanshire
COXON, HALL, JACKSON, SHOTTON - Northumberland
