Pontypridd records
« on: Friday 11 September 20 21:53 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am researching a family who lived in Pontypridd from about 1896 - I can find the civil marriages, births, deaths etc but am unable to find many parish records for them.  I know that this may mean that they were Roman Catholic etc., but just wondered if I was missing something in my search.

George Mills Carver was born in Newport in 1871 and was married in 1895 to Catherine Kane in Pontypridd.  They continued to live there and had several children - George was a hairdresser.  He died in Pontypridd in 1925.  I have scoured FindMyPast and Ancestry and have the census etc., but would love to be able to find parish records as in where they are buried for example.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful.  Thank you.   Royd.

Pontypridd - as in the registration district - covered a large area so there are many places he could have been buried, churches / chapels or the local authority cemeteries. Glyntaff cemetery office holds many of the council records for the area but many places are on hold for family history research at the moment. Where does his death certificate say he actually died?

Thank you for your prompt response.  I do not have the certificate as yet - simply the registration of his death.  R.

Sadly without knowing where he died it would be very difficult to find his burial. Just to give you an idea of the area, there were 3703 deaths registered in Pontypridd registration district in 1925.

Thank you so very much for those links - really grateful.  I have access to FindMyPast newspapers but couldn't find anything very much about Carvers in Prontypridd area at all.  I have never explored all possibilities in Welsh records before, so this has enlightened me!  Thank you again.  R.
