Finding army timeline
« on: Tuesday 15 September 20 23:19 BST (UK) »
Heya,
I am looking into my grandfather, Wilfrid Frederick Maynard's timeline while in the army and the regiment/unit he was in. I know his joined the Territorial army in 1942 and sent not long after to India in 1943. I have a copy of army form B 200d & form B.102 but am unsure where to look to find answers. I have his army number but his number doesn't seem to be recognized on Ancestry & Find My Past websites.
Any help would be hugely appreciated :)
Many thanks
Hannah

Welcome to Rootschat Hama  :D

Can you tell us when and where Wilfrid was born please?  As you have his army number perhaps you could put that on here as well.

Do you have his full army record or is the B200d etc all you have?

Have a look at this as it tells you how to obtain military records.  Not sure if this covers the Territorial army.

I'm doing guesswork here until you provide further details.

There is a death for a Wilfrid Frederick Maynard in 1980 Hounslow district.  Date of birth is given as 5th July 1907.

Is the above your Wilfred?

Hi GirlGuide,

Thank you for the reply!

Yes, that is my grandfather's date of birth and year of death.
His army number: 14295226
I will attach both army forms separately due to file size

Many thanks
Hannah

Below is part of Army form B 200d including statement of service while in territorial army which looks like he transferred to R.C Signals

It looks like he transferred to the Royal Corps of Signals which would be the regular army.  I would suggest that you consider obtaining his army records as per my reply #1.

It does cost £30 so do bear that in mind and it can take up to three to six months to receive them.

It depends on how much you wish to know about his time in the army.

Did you wish to find out anything else about Wilfrid, or just his army record?

Please note that service records for anyone joining the Armed Forces after 1920 are still with the MOD.
They are not online anywhere ;D

Hi Girl Guide & KGarrad,

Thank you for the help and sorry for the late reply.

I'll look into obtaining a military record. May even find out more about him.

I guess I just wanted to find a little more about him, his time in the army, what his role was and where he traveled in India etc. Always interesting finding history on family.

Many thanks
Hannah
