Yes, I would think so. I've not been in there but I know the area well. The church is just below the road. We used to walk up to Valle Crucis as well - one of our teachers was fond of walking. Also , we learnt of the destruction of the Abbeys by Henry Vlll that way  :)

One of my Burgess cousins (removed) was policeman there in the late 19th century. He would probably have known my Jones line  :)

PS - forgot to say that Maes yr ychen means field of the oxen  - maes = field and ych = ox ychen = oxen

thank you both, i would never have figured that one out. i have been in the churchyard though looking for possible ancestors but that was a while back !. thank you again great help.loads of Joneses too !.brian

sorry.but also this one now. but on the transaction on f.m.p it says gresford ? its jan 29th 1682
but looks like the same place as william ?.

I think it says Allington which, from memory is in Gresford.
