Mowsehowse, good to hear that your friend is recovering well.

Do you usually have a bad reaction to the flu vaccine or is it just this one?

The flu vaccine on its own doesn't trouble me much, but for some reason they decided I needed the pneumonia as well.... like a 2 for 1 BOGOFF deal!!
What worries me most is that I can't find anyone else who has been told to have them both together.
But thankfully I did sleep properly last night.

Sorry to hear Mowsehowse you had such an unfavourable reaction to the pneumonia one... I had both last year at the same time... I seem to remember having a day of feeling a bit grim... sadly I knew I was having both! Glad to hear you’re feeling better now though.

Annette - what a palaver to have to go through taking cases out of your boot before you take your car for its MOT!
I was interested to hear you saying you’d had to book to go to your recycle centre... just shows how things are done in different areas... ours are open as normal and you just turn up in the same way as before!

Carol - very sad to hear two people from the same family have died when as a country you’ve had so few deaths.... hope you get your computer sorted soon..

Well a bright sunny if fresh day here.
Went a walk round the cemetery ,scattered bird food .
Met- a couple of metres or three apart- a lady almost 90, but very sprightly ,
walks every day with her son who has some mental health problems .
She is waiting major surgery.
Has Macular Degeneration and hearing problems ,grommets that need changing , waiting treatment for those as well ,the Dept that does it is closed.
So ill, can’t see or hear , and I thought how lucky I am by comparison with her.
She has no TV, no reading or jigsaws, no radio, phone or conversation.
Then you think of the idiots who flout guidelines and do what they want , then snumbers go up and the treatment for people like that lady is delayed in an effort to keep infection levels down.
She goes nowhere ,is not fit to be out unaccompanied, is is and pretty isolated for 24 hours ,day in day out.

Those who deny ,Covid 19 or who won’t accept any restrictions on their lifestyle should meet this lady.
If her problems could be theirs for just a day,my word they would think again.

Chilly this evening , fire on.
Must phone my sister ,but I usually put the phone down, get on with something ,pick it up again and she has not missed me!
Also my sister in law, but she has no conversation ,so I am thinking of things to say  all the time!

Ham joint to take from the freezer tomorrow morning for roasting Sunday.
New potatoes, green beans a funny little sauce I concoct from lemon juice, orange zest, tomatoes and ginger and red currant jelly.
It tastes different every time as no amounts but it is really nice.
I end up throwing some ham away so this time I will cut slices for freezing in small packs enough for butties ,straight away to freeze as soon as cool.
Well off to make a cuppa and bath and bed not too late tonight as a milk day tomorrow and I like to get it in before the sun gets to it.So up early.
Must order some wallflowers ,the dark maroon / browny ones are my favourites.
Cheerio ,look after yourselves.
Viktoria .

Caroline, from what I've read I don't think the restrictions will cover the Weardale area, it's Wearside, ie around Sunderland.

The restrictions do cover Weardale as it’s in County Durham and it’s part of the restricted area. It’s. Northumberland , north Tyneside, south Tyneside, Newcastle, Gateshead Sunderland and County Durham but not Darlington. All 7 local authorities asked for extra help from the government , even though Northumberland and County Durham have fewer or even no cases. Darlington is a sep local authority so they aren’t in it. We are all very fed up !!

Viktoria, that is very sad reading about the plight of this 90 year old lady and all she is having to cope with.  It certainly does make you count your blessings after reading this.

Candleflame, I should have realised that, typical of me to not read things properly! I'm not surprised you're fed up. We have escaped it so far, we will see what happens next.
