Dear All ,
Can anyone offer any advise on finding service / recruitment / discharge records of two Tullamore  men who were known to have fought and survived the First World War.Would these be held in Ireland or Uk ?
Many Thanks

Hi Scatty!

What information do you have ?
Get on to the Armed Forces board with as much info as you know - names , dates ,regiments if possible - there's some great guys on there that come up with all kinds of stuff - we wouldn't even think about!!

Have a great day!

if they fought in WW1 they should have a medal card which you can get from here:
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/browse-refine.asp?CatID=10&searchType=browserefine&pagenumber=1&query=*&queryType=1
This should tell you what branch of the army they were in and their service numbers, and what medals they recieved during WW1, I'm not sure where there records are held for after the war that but its a good start.
