What church?
« on: Saturday 19 September 20 00:36 BST (UK) »
I am looking for advice on locating a church in Hampstead.
Phoebe Richards married John Armstrong in 1832 in Hampstead. (Pallots index)
John died in 1838 aged 28
Is there any way to find banns or marriage entry. There is the number 204 on the index has that any relevance.
Many thanks

There is a list of Anglican churches in Hampstead on the Hampstead page on GenUKI:
https://www.rmfa92.org/history/

The parish registers should be on Ancestry or FindMyPast.

Hampstead does not seem to be in the London churches collection on Ancestry.

London, England, Church of England Marriages and Banns, 1754-1932

There is this at an LDS centre

Just a thought - "John Armstrong, died 1838 aged 28" - is he buried at St Mary, Paddington Green?  Looking on Ancestry for marriages at St Mary, Paddington Green there are no records prior to 1845.

Genuki also gives other names for St Mary - St Mary (also sometimes St James until 1818, was St Nicholas, Paddington, Church of England.  But that doesn't help in tracing the marriage records  :-\
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

There was only one Anglican church in Hampstead in 1832 - the parish church of St John-at-Hampstead.

The registers were traditionally retained by the church and were deposited 'late' at LMA. So they are partly on Ancestry, but they are incomplete there.

I have access to the registers elsewhere and will try to look for the marriage for you later today.
