Any ideas anyone

Check refs to her birth name in BMD indexes to see if anything( in the registration district)  looks to match the 1881 birthplace?

Thanks for the reply Pauline,
i've looked on BMD but can't find any traceof her, I got one of her childrens birth cert to find her fathers name, but she gave his name as Warren, so it seems her mother was'nt married.

I can see her as you pointed out on the 1881 census born circa 1856 Cambridgeshire, Anne E. and in 1891 Ann Elizabeth born circa 1857 Great Bradley Norfolk (actually on Suffolk, on the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border). I can't find her at all on the 1901 census so I don't know what age she gives on that census or place of birth?

However on the 1861 and 1871 censuses there are Coppings in Great Bradley, but their surname is spelt Coppin. There is only one Anne or Anna but her birth is circa 1860.

Do you now think the marriage to Henry Daniels in 1881 is not correct? Are the censuses therefore correct - is it another Ann Elizabeth Copping?

Valda

Hello Valda,
thanks for replying, i have Annie Daniels on 1901 census as single b 1856 in Hanibon Norfolk. in 1901 shes a domestic cook living Caistor St. Edmond.
I have her wedding cert for 1881 giving her age as 25.
It's a bit of a mystery with her family one of the witnesses at her wedding was
Mary Jane Bird (nee Warren) as i said she gives her fathers name as John Warren
(deceased) i've traced the warrens to Great Bradley . The John she gave as her father was propably John b 1836 in Kirtling Cambs i n earlier census he goes by the name Claydon . Turns out A mary Warren of Kirtling had a son John b 1808 in Kirtling  and shemarried a Thomas Claydon in 1809, hence the change and use of name. Sorry for going on a bit, does'nt get me any closer to the Copping Mame
                           Regards Mike

Have you contacted Suffolk Record Office re a potential 'Bastardy order' (that is what the Victorians called them) for Ann (ie) Elizabeth Coppin or Copping in the Great Bradley vicinity with a potential father possibly John Warren? Have you checked the Great Bradley (not on the IGI) parish records for any baptisms for Ann?
Have you searched the 1851 census for Great Bradley?

Hello again Valda,
i'm a complete novice when it comes to knowing where to check records, how would i go about contacting parish records
and finding these bastardy records.
I would be very grateful for a point in the right direction as to where and how to contact the appropriate people
                    Best wishes Mike
