Missing from 1911 census.
« on: Sunday 20 September 20 15:29 BST (UK) »
Hello,
What are the reasons that a family might be missing from the 1911 census?
I know where they were living and who should be there but can`t bring them up from the census records.
This is my first post so I hope I`m doing it right!

Welcome,

Who/ what are the names, ages and origins?
Also, where are expecting them to be?

There are mistranscriptions and missing areas to consider.

Pauline

Think they are there in Leith. Search under the surname McDairmid.

SP 692/2/32/19.

William
Dent (Haltwhistle and Sacriston), Bell and Jetson (Haltwhistle), Postle, Ward, Longstaff, Purvis, Manners, Parnaby and Hardy (Co. Durham), Kennedy and McRobert (Banffshire), Reid(Bathgate), Watson (Wemyss), Graham (Libberton), Sandilands (Carmichael), Munro (Dingwall)

Thanks everyone for the advice especially William who was quite right.
A spelling mistake changing McDiarmid to McDairmid. i would never have thought of that.
I should have asked you all earlier!
many thanks

Glad to have helped. In this case I simply searched the first name Finlay in Leith in 1911. There are not that many!

If Catherine senior's maiden name was Duncan I think you will find her death in Leith in 1905.

William

Dent (Haltwhistle and Sacriston), Bell and Jetson (Haltwhistle), Postle, Ward, Longstaff, Purvis, Manners, Parnaby and Hardy (Co. Durham), Kennedy and McRobert (Banffshire), Reid(Bathgate), Watson (Wemyss), Graham (Libberton), Sandilands (Carmichael), Munro (Dingwall)
