NHS Contact Tracing App
« on: Thursday 24 September 20 08:17 BST (UK) »
Now available to download.
Just tried to download it, but got a message to say it needs IOS 13.5 or later. So looks like my  i-phone is too old to use it. I only got it in August 2018.

Doesn't seem possible. It is set to automatically update, but that only updates to newer versions of IOS 12. It is now 12.4.8. I don't think it has updated for a while - probably not supported any more.

Doesn't that article refer to the previous app trialled on the Isle of Wight, which was discontinued "for technical reasons". That seemed to have problems with many sorts of phones

Sorry, I didn't realise that there was a previous trial ...

I can understand old phones not being able to get the app, but not the newer ones.

Cheers

iPhones as old as the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus (released 2015) and the iPhone SE (released 2016) support iOS 14. All iPhones released after those also support iOS 14.

If you have an iPhone that supports iOS 14 then you may want to contact Apple Support and find out how to get it upgraded.

If you have an older iPhone that doesn't support iOS 14, regardless of when you got it, then you simply have a very old phone (ie 6+ years old, from release) that's no longer supported by Apple and have to accept that app developers may not support it either.
