"From Monday, it will be a punishable offence not to comply with an official instruction to self-isolate, with fines starting at 1,000 and rising to 10,000 for repeat offenders or serious breaches."

Interesting a Leicester Mother whose Covid Positive Son living at home and refusing to isolate by going out etc and who claimed a number of his office colleagues at his work were Covid + was complaining on the Jeremy Vine Radio Show this dinnertime about her Son's behaviour.

How would they get your phone number?

In the message that I had, it said that they had sent it to all those that the NHS had an e-mail or smartphone number.

Both Mr G and I had one.

NHS has my smartphone number - I get text reminders of hospital appointments, but i didn't get text today from NHS tracing - maybe the know i have IOS12 not 13 on my iphone

had a Covid test a couple of weeks ago - 1 mile from my home - no long wait - result (negative) texted to me within 24 hours - impressive and efficient!

I can text and phone out and take incoming calls on my new (cheap) phone (6pm for calls etc.) - it meets my modest needs!

Surely we're not expected to pop out and buy a new phone which can handle 'apps' are we?
Not sure how many people would self-isolate for 2 weeks if they got a message saying that someone who had been in the same supermarket/library/bus as them had tested positive.

You would need to be in close proximity to them for 15 minutes to trigger the alert.

Oh dear 12,872 new cases reported yesterday - not published until 4 hours later than usual

https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/?_ga=2.17315577.1554984867.1601738142-658466839.1578816098

With a note added to explain the high figure
"Due to a technical issue, which has now been resolved, there has been a delay in publishing a number of COVID-19 cases to the dashboard in England. This means the total reported over the coming days will include some additional cases from the period between 24 September and 1 October, increasing the number of cases reported"

This could mean several hundred extra positive testing people from a week plus ago have only just come to the notice of PHE. Very little chance now of tracing all their contacts. Let's hope the app picks up at least some of them.
And as it says" over the coming days" this isn't just a high number on one day to correct the total figures.

Good evening,

So, the goverment gave contracts to their cronies. What do you think the labour party would have done.

Exactly the same thing only using labour supporting wealthy cronies.

The Tories have Dom Cummings, Labour have Corbin, seen breaking the rules at a dinner party for more than 6 people. Corbin's brother was the organiser of the anti mask demo in London.

None of them are exactly honest with us. To them, we are just the uneducated masses.
