"Sailors Missionary" in Fowey
« on: Thursday 24 September 20 13:12 BST (UK) »
My 2 x G Grandfather Henry James b1848 in Newlyn was a "Sailors Missionary" in Fowey Cornwall in 1901. "Can anyone please shed light on this particular Profession?". I know Henry was a lifelong fisherman prior to 1901. Plus his Religion was a big part of his family life (Methodist) so i guess it all links in .. I appreciate any support here . Thank you .

I can see at least 3 newspaper references to Henry in his capacity as "sailor's missionary". In another he is mentioned in an item about his son W. A James, Birkenhead.

There's a tribute to him in Cornishman, 12 April 1906, worth reading.
