illegitimate birth in Wirksworth

hi,
    is there any reason why a Scottish girl would come all the way from Scotland to have a baby in Wirksworth in 1965?
    The baby was then adopted and the mother presumably returned to Scotland.

So that neighbours and others in Scotland knew nothing about the birth.  Was it an unmarried mothers home that she had the baby in.

was hoping someone might be able to tell me about an unmarried mothers home. No relatives in the area that we know of.
All we have so far is Marion Macleod b. Wirksworth 1965 and was adopted.Only just started on this one but will get round to birth certificate.

Hi,

There was a small maternity hospital in Wirksworth, closed abt 1967.

Doing a Google search for  maternity hospital Wirksworth, will give you its history.

If you do not have a birth certificate how do you know the birth was actually in Wirksworth?
